Emergency!

You may all think that the picture above is from Adam's surgery last month but unfortunately it isn't. On Monday Adam started having a pain in his right side so he made a doctor's appointment for the next morning. He has been having this pain on and off for the last year but this time it was worse. The next morning the doctor's office called and said that the doctor was sick luckily they were able to reschedule him to see another doctor. At the doctors they did blood work and everything was normal but when the doctor pressed on his stomach it was obvious that he was in severe pain so she sent him to get a CT scan and told him not to eat or drink anything just in case they needed to do surgery. He called me and let me know what was going on so I left school and met him to go get the CT scan. After the CT scan they told him that they couldn't see anything wrong so she was referring him to go see a gastroenterologist and gave him a prescription that might help him. When we were waiting fat the pharmacy to get the prescription filled someone that worked there asked Adam if he had his phone with him and he said yes. Right after that the doctor called him apparently the doctor had read to CT wrong at first and he actually had something wrong with his appendix and we needed to go the ER immediately so that he could have his appendix removed. When we got to the ER We only waited for about two minutes before they took us back to a room. After he got into a gown they started an IV and then moved him to the Surgical section of the hospital. They were kind of rushing us through everything because they wanted to get him into surgery but then we had to sit and wait for a while. Apparenly the anesthesiologist was working on another case and we were just waiting for him to finish. They did the surgery by making three small incisions and then they took his appendix out through one of the incisions. He seemed to being doing much better when I walked into recovery this time than when I saw him after his nose surgery. The doctor gave him the choice of staying the night or going home and he decided to go home. We just had to wait until he could get up and walk around to make sure that he still was doing OK after that. Today he is still doing well he has trouble standing up and sitting down because he has to use his stomach muscles but other than that he is doing great. Oh and I am not allowed to smile, laugh or talk when I am around him because laughing really makes his stomach hurt.
