Emergency!

You may all think that the picture above is from Adam's surgery last month but unfortunately it isn't. On Monday Adam started having a pain in his right side so he made a doctor's appointment for the next morning. He has been having this pain on and off for the last year but this time it was worse. The next morning the doctor's office called and said that the doctor was sick luckily they were able to reschedule him to see another doctor. At the doctors they did blood work and everything was normal but when the doctor pressed on his stomach it was obvious that he was in severe pain so she sent him to get a CT scan and told him not to eat or drink anything just in case they needed to do surgery. He called me and let me know what was going on so I left school and met him to go get the CT scan. After the CT scan they told him that they couldn't see anything wrong so she was referring him to go see a gastroenterologist and gave him a prescription that might help him. When we were waiting fat the pharmacy to get the prescription filled someone that worked there asked Adam if he had his phone with him and he said yes. Right after that the doctor called him apparently the doctor had read to CT wrong at first and he actually had something wrong with his appendix and we needed to go the ER immediately so that he could have his appendix removed. When we got to the ER We only waited for about two minutes before they took us back to a room. After he got into a gown they started an IV and then moved him to the Surgical section of the hospital. They were kind of rushing us through everything because they wanted to get him into surgery but then we had to sit and wait for a while. Apparenly the anesthesiologist was working on another case and we were just waiting for him to finish. They did the surgery by making three small incisions and then they took his appendix out through one of the incisions. He seemed to being doing much better when I walked into recovery this time than when I saw him after his nose surgery. The doctor gave him the choice of staying the night or going home and he decided to go home. We just had to wait until he could get up and walk around to make sure that he still was doing OK after that. Today he is still doing well he has trouble standing up and sitting down because he has to use his stomach muscles but other than that he is doing great. Oh and I am not allowed to smile, laugh or talk when I am around him because laughing really makes his stomach hurt.

Food

Adam has a knack for eating everything thing that I want to eat right before I want it. An example of this is whenever I buy Totinos pizzas no matter how many I buy he will always eat the last one a day or two before I try to make one. Since this has happened so many times the other night when I decided that I wanted ice cream I decided to ask him if he had already eaten it all he told me that he had because it was better than the ice cream that he had bought. He was generous enough to offer me his ice cream which he informed me wasn't as good as mine. It also had peanut butter cups in it which I don't like. I decided to still go downstairs and see if we had anything else to eat when I opened the freezer I saw my ice cream still in the freezer so I pulled it out and opened it to find out that he had left one spoonful of ice cream in the container. I was so glad that I had asked him about it before because I would have been so angry if I had opened to container and found only a tiny bit left if he hadn't already told me that it was all gone.

Black Friday

This year for black friday I didn't see any really great deals on things that I wanted but since I love to go shopping I still went. Austin was my shopping buddy this year. Our first stop was walmart for DVDs at midnight. We had a ton of people so it was easy to make sure that everyone got what they wanted we even ended up with some extras that we had to put back. After we were done at walmart we had sometime to kill so we were going to wait in line at Best Buy but when we got there the line was already around the building and its freezing so we decided to go to Denny's instead. After Denny's Austin was really tired and was starting to fall asleep so I took him home (he's a rookie). After I dropped Austin off I went and met up with everyone else and then my mom and I went to Best Buy and just sat in the car until the whole line went in. We were still able to get everything we went for without waiting in line. Our next stop was Staples to get some office chairs. Adam and I each have our own desk and we have just been using folding chairs but I saw office chairs were only $30.00 (normally $100.00) so I thought that it would be worth getting them. Staples was the least organized place that we went and they were kind of rude. They had two different lines and we found out that we were in the wrong line when we got almost to the front but there was nothing designating that there was a difference between to two lines. Apparently one was for getting computers and the other one was just for regular checkout. Our black friday tradition is to go get pretzels from Pretzel Maker when we are done shopping so after a quick stop at Target we went and had pretzels and then I went home to take a quick hour nap before I had to go to work. I don't have any pictures because I was too busy shopping.

Thanksgiving

This year we had thanksgiving dinner at Ann and Calvin's our contribution to dinner was mashed potatoes and Adam was obsessed with making the perfect mashed potatoes. He did extensive research on different ways to make mashed potatoes and finally found a recipe that he thought would be great. Unfortunately the recipe required a specific type of potatoes and it wasn't the type that we have 50 lbs. of in the pantry (every year my parents buy us a 50 lbs. bag of Idaho potatoes). Since I was at work and he was still taking pain medication he asked my mom if she would get the stuff for the potatoes and since Robyn was already out my mom passed the task on to her. I'm so glad that I have a great family that is willing to help us out. He missed calculated how long it would take to make the potatoes so we were 45 minutes late getting to dinner luckily my family is always running a little behind so they were just finishing everything up when we got there. There was so much good food and I felt like I didn't get to eat enough of it because I got full too quickly. Next year I think that I will start training for thanksgiving so I can eat more. Every year after dinner we always sit down and look at the ads to plan our strategy for shopping the next. I can't believe that store just keeping opening earlier and earlier. There were a lot more pictures with people showing their chewed up food but I thought that one was enough for this postAdam was dumping his gravy off his plate and onto all of the rolls

Surgery

So on Wednesday Adam was scheduled to be a the surgical center at 9:30. I got up early because I had to go get my TB test checked and get some groceries before we went in for the surgery. Once we got to the surgical center we had to wait a few minutes before they took us back and had Adam change into a gown and started his IV. After we had sat in the room for a while the doctor came in and talked to us. I really liked his doctor he was really nice when answering all my questions. I thought that it was really funny because his doctor had on shiny black dress shoes with his scrubs. The surgery only took about half an hour and then I had to wait another half an hour for him to be out of the first recovery area so that I could go sit with him. He was pretty out of it when I first saw him because they didn't have to break his nose so it didn't even look like he had surgery. After about an hour in the recovery area they released us to go home.He didn't like me taking his picture so he kept pulling faces.

Yesterday his nose was bleeding quite a bit so we decided to go into the doctor's so that we didn't have to pay to go to the ER Saturday or Sunday. The doctor said that he nose was bleeding a bit more than he would like to see so he took out the splints a couple of days early. Adam was shocked to see how large the splints were when the doctor pulled them out of his nose. He was also very relieved to have them out because they had been causing a lot of pressure in his head.

Today he is doing a lot better a lot less bleeding and he hasn't had to take as much pain medication today. I just wish that he would lay down with ice on his nose more but I guess that would be really old after a while. Maybe by thanksgiving we will both be feeling better.

Field trip

On Tuesday Addisyn had a field trip for school and since I had the day off I got to go with her. They had been learning about grain so for the field trip they went to Great Harvest Bread. The girl that did the tour made it the perfect length for three and four year olds. She told them all the ingredients that went into the bread and let them touch them. She showed them the giant oven that they cook the bread in and the machine that they use to dump the dough out onto the table. The end was the best part they gave everyone a slice of bread or a cookie. After the field trip was over I decided to take Addisyn with me to Kohl's because I had to exchange some stuff and then to McDonald's to eat and play on the toys. While we were at Kohl's we decided to look at the shoe's and Addisyn found the perfect pink rain boots so I let her get them since I had $10.00 Kohl's cash so her boots were basically free. It was a fun day but it reminded me why I don't have kids I was exhausted when I dropped her off at her grandparents.

Some of the kids didn't want to pose for a picture

Spoon Boy

Last night we went to dinner at the Spaghetti Factory for two reasons one because its delicious and two because Fremont was playing the state championship football game at the University of Utah so we would already be in Salt Lake. Unfortunately I didn't get to go to the game because I had to take Adam to the doctor's but my dad and Calvin were going down after they got off work so I was still able to go to dinner. Because the Group of people at dinner was so large it took us a long time to eat so Austin found a way to entertain himself while everyone else was finishing their food. He decided to see how many spoons he could stick to his face. If anyone is looking for a new way to pick up girls this is the way to do it. The table next to us had about 30 girls sitting at it and Austin noticed that they were watching him put the spoons on his face and then a couple of minutes later they all came and stood around him and said that they needed to get their picture taken with him. When we were leaving he got one of their numbers mostly because his dad didn't think that he would do it.I think that Ann enjoyed her dinner a bit too much.

Quite the pair

Adam had his surgery today and everything went well. His nose is sore and he is really tired but other than that he is doing great. I on the other hand feel like I am about to die. OK not really I am just a big baby when I am sick. Like I said in my previous post I have a really bad cold and I feel like every day I am getting worse not better. Next time you need someone to take care of you when you are sick don't call me I am not a good nurse. I am supposed to be taking care of Adam but instead he has to take of me because I am such a baby. Good thing I only get sick once every four years.

Busy Busy

The purpose of this post it not to make people feel sorry for me its to explain the lack of posts lately. I have been super busy with school and work lately and anyone who knows me knows that I need to sleep a lot to survive. So lately my life has pretty much consisted of school, work, a little bit of studying and sleep. Hopefully in the next few months we will be doing some fun stuff so that I will have something to blog about.
Here are just a few things that have happened in our lives in the last few months. I got a new job, I am still at the credit union in the call center I am just a team lead now instead of a back-up. Luckily my job is mostly the same so not too much new stuff to learn. I am really liking my new job so far especially now that I have had time to get organized I am usually very organized so it was driving my crazy not having everything perfect. I am also still loving school except for the fact that I have to be at school at 8 everyday but the stuff that I am learning is super interesting. I am excited to start doing more of the hands on stuff soon but for now I am just learning about all of the teeth. I never knew that there was so much to learn about teeth.
Adam is still working as a teller at the credit union but is looking to move up to a different position. He recently went to the doctor because he has a really hard time breathing and he found out that he has a deviated septum so he is going to be having surgery for that in November hopefully that will help him breath better. He Also went to a doctor because his back has been hurting and he found out that he had hurt his back I can't remember exactly what is wrong with it but they are hoping they can fix it with exercises.
We also carved pumpkins last night so I will be posting about that soon I just need to take pictures.

RSL and The Spaghetti Factory

I am officially addicted to major league soccer. I have always liked soccer and played soccer until I was in high school when I had to choose if I wanted to play soccer or volleyball and I chose volleyball. Since I am starting school I had to change my work schedule so I work every Saturday so my friends from work and I decided that we should do something before school started and we would all be too busy to hangout. We usually just hangout and watch Chuck at someone's house but this time we decided to invite our husbands since they all have a lot in common and since we all like soccer we decided that it would be fun to go to a RSL game. I also convinced them to go the The Spaghetti Factory since its my favorite restaurant and we were going to be in Salt Lake for the game. We decided to ride Frontrunner to Salt Lake since we would have had to take two car otherwise. It took a little longer to get there because we rode frontrunner but it was definitely fun riding together. I was a little nervous because I was in charge of knowing which train to get on at each stop and to make sure that we made it the game on time but everything worked out well. I was a little disappointed with our meal at first they tried sticking us in a little booth where we could hardly move our arms so we asked to move and the waitress who's table we were originally sitting at kept giving us dirty looks the whole time we were eating. Then our waiter seemed to be rushing us a little bit I was only half done with my food when he asked what type of ice cream we wanted and brought us our checks. I am going to eat at the spaghetti factory again tomorrow so hopefully it will be a better experience. The train on the way to the soccer game was really crowded and I got separated from everyone I was trapped in the corner and when I was finally able to make it to where everyone else was sitting my friend Nicole's husband cheered for me. Our seats at the soccer game were right behind the goal and it was awesome we could see the action really well. We were all really into the game and at one point one of our players got past the goalie with the ball and had a chance to shoot on the open goal and somehow during all the excitement Sarah hit me and smacked her knee on the chair in front of her apparently she is very dangerous to watch a soccer game with. I hope that someday soon I can have season tickets because MLS is officially my new favorite sport to watch. Riding trax to the game Sarah wasn't trying to hide she was trying to lean into the pictureAdam on the train doesn't he look thrilled?

Roy Days

For Roy Days we always go to the parade early in the morning and the last couple of years I have been in charge of saving our spot. This year I didn't know who was coming to sit by us so I just saved a really big spot and I'm really glad that I did because we ended up having quite a large group. The parade was a little too long and there were some really big spaces between the floats. I really enjoyed helping the little kids get the candy and they definitely all got plenty. It was my job to go out into the middle of the street and throw the candy closer to the curb that would have just gotten run over otherwise. Larissa's little girl Mylee was hilarious at first she didn't like the parade but by the end she was totally into running out into the road to get the candy. After the parade we decided to go over to the park and see Calvin's motorcycle in the car show and of course get some cotton candy. On the way to the park I had a few extra passengers and Jacee and Addisyn were both getting tired and started to fight because one person was touching the other, it definitely reminded me why I don't want kids anytime soon. After we all hung out at the park for a while we went school shopping for Whitney which was really fun because Whitney and I have very similar taste so I liked picking clothes out for her. This is us wasting time waiting for the parade to finally start.Tanner was entertaining us before the parade. If you go to a parade and want a lot of candy invite Tanner he will cheer for all the floats and then they throw you lots of candy.
Mylee didn't like the fire trucks
Oakley wasn't so sure about the fire trucks either so she hung out on my dad's lap

The aquatic center always has a float in the parade and they always have water. When I saw that they were coming I told everyone sitting by Brittany they may want to move because she was about to get wet. She tried telling everyone that the people from her work weren't going to get her wet because they respected her. Ann and I totally didn't believe her so we moved her out into the middle of the road. This is Brittany waiting in her chair in the road. I think that she was starting to doubt how much the people that she bosses around everyday respect her. This is one of the people showing Brittany how much he respects her.
This is Brittany after everyone showed her how much they respect her. She was just a little wet.

We also knew a lot of people in the parade this year.
This is my mom's boss he made sure to throw us some candy.
This is Whitney she is an officer at Rocky Mtn. Jr. High
Jacee riding her scooter and Ann was putting Anika on the trailer. Anika definitely knew what she was doing she watched half of the parade and got tons of candy and then she rode on the dance trailer for the other half.Alayna was on a float with her soccer team.

Hopefully I fixed all the grammatical errors in this post I was really tired when I was writing it and I was having a hard time making my sentences make sense.

Snakes

So this summer I have tried to go hiking at least once a week usually just after work one night a group of us will hike up to waterfall canyon it has been really good exercise. Well since sadly summer is coming to an end it is starting to get dark earlier. Last week I made it to the waterfall in record time thanks to Austin making me feel old and out of shape by asking me if I needed to rest all the time. This week the hike totally kicked my butt it felt like I had exercised in years. On the way down it was starting to get dark so we were trying to hurry but we didn't want to get too far ahead of my mom and Linda who had just made it to the top when we decided to start making our way back down. About half way down we saw a guy with a snake on a stick Jenn and Austin were totally excited to get a closer look I just wanted to get past. Apparently it was a rattlesnake and it had been coiled right by the trail and he was afraid that it would bite someone so he killed it. He cut of the head and put it under a rock since apparently rattlesnakes can still bite for 24 hrs after they are dead. He took the rest of the snake since he wanted the rattler after that I was terrified of there being a snake on the trail. We decided to go down and throw rocks at the containers and waste sometime while waiting for my Mom and Linda. Right as we got to the containers Austin saw a rattlesnake and screamed which caused me to scream and as we were trying to run away Austin was pushing me towards the snake.I already hated snakes before this hike but after seeing two snakes right of the trail I was petrified and it was starting to get really dark. I carried a rock the whole rest of the way day just in case we saw another snake and needed to throw something at it. After that Jenn was in the front of the line and I really wanted to be in the middle but since Austin is such a baby he got to be in the middle and I had to be on the end. I was right on Austin's heels the whole time and was so relieved when we finally got to the bottom. When we got to the bottom their was a guy from animal control he was talking to the guy with the rattlesnake apparently its illegal to kill rattlesnakes in Utah luckily that isn't actually the reason he was there he was there to give citations to anyone without there dog on a lease. When I got home and stopped to get the mail and I was still a bit jittery so I had to check to make sure there were no snakes outside my car before I got out and I almost checked in the bathtub for snakes before I got in it to take a shower. Luckily I think I am recovering from this very traumatic experience I only had two dreams about snakes last night and I have stopped checking for snakes everywhere I go. Hopefully tonight I won't have any dreams about snakes. I took the pictures I added on the way up to the waterfall I didn't take any on the way down because I was took busy looking for snakesAustin wasn't actually throwing a rock he was just mimicking Jenn.

Rodeo

Every year I go to the rodeo with my family which is good because Adam doesn't like the rodeo so he chooses to stay home. I always have to get some cotton candy at the rodeo this year I also got a soda which cost $3.00 which was the most expensive soda I have ever bought that is until I went to the Real Salt Lake game and paid $3.50. Its not cheap being a soda addict. Addisyn was sitting on my lap when the skydivers landed in the stadium and she informed me that she is going to parachute when she is older. There was one really close call with one of the bulls he almost go one of the clowns.Once Addisyn got the cotton candy she completely forgot the change so it was my job to wait for it.This is how Addisyn spent most of her time at the Rodeo
