I'm Back

I finally finished the semester and since I'm not going to school during the summer I might actually have time to blog. I will start posting as soon as I stop forgetting everything because my brain is so fried from finals and I have to learn to walk again (I fell up the stairs twice yesterday).

Fiddler on the roof!

Last Monday I got to go to see my cousin Whitney in Fiddler on the Roof. She did a great job and even had a couple of solo singing parts. The play was a bit boring for me (probably because I had a book that I had just bought that I really wanted to read) but the singing was amazing. I was really impressed that kids in junior high could sing so well. It was so great to see all of the support for the play. We had to save 20 seats just for my family and the play started 30 minutes late because they had to keep setting up more and more chairs for the people that just kept coming. Everyone always tells me that Whitney and I are a lot alike and I definitely agree but the one thing that is not alike for us is that I would never be brave enough to get up in front of people and sing. Enjoy the pictures courtesy of Robyn.

My Day in Court

Way back in June I was with my mom coming home from a birthday party and we decided to stop at Wal-Mart. When we left Wal-Mart we were driving west on 21st street and all of a sudden there were a huge truck right behind us that started honking. He was so close that all we could see was the grill of his truck and the headlights. We thought that it might be an emergency vehicle and there was someone in the other lane so we couldn't change lanes so my mom just pulling into the median. As the truck came flying by we noticed that it wasn't an emergency vehicle and this mad my mom really mad because he was driving very recklessly and if he hit us could have done some major damage especially since Addisyn was in the back seat. My mom followed the truck trying to get his license plate number so that she could call and report him and he ended up going on the road by the Outlaw Saloon which is a dead end so I was freaking out because the truck was going to have to turn around and come back towards us. My mom quickly turned around and pulled into a parking lot so that we could still see the truck which eventually pulled into the parking lot of the Outlaw. A car pulled up next to us and asked if we were OK they explained that they had been the car in the other lane and had witnessed the whole thing. They also said that the truck has been driving recklessly since Harrison Blvd. My mom called the police and they came out and talked to us and asked if we wanted to press charges. We decided that we would press charges because if they had hit us all of us could have been killed since the truck was so large. They had us write up our statements including the car that had witnessed the whole thing and the officer (who looked like he was 12 years old) let us know that we may have to go to trial if since we pressed charges but they are usually a couple of months behind so we wouldn't hear anything for a couple of month if we ever heard anything at all.

7 months later I got a call from Robyn who told me that my mom had gotten a subpoena for the trial. The next day was my day off and I got my subpoena and we were set to go to court the next Tuesday. I was able to stay pretty calm going to court because I clearly remembered what happened. I was actually kind of intrigued by the idea of going to court since I have seen it on TV so often. The only thing I wasn't excited about is having to get up early on my day off to go to court. When I arrived they just had us sit in the court room until it was our turn. We got to listen to all of the cases the were before ours and it was very interesting. I definitely don't ever want to be on the other side if I ever have to go to court again. If you are being accused of something you basically have to air your dirty laundry in front of everyone. After about an hour of waiting the city attorney called our names and he talked to us about what was going to happen and asked us to tell our stories for him. When our trial started my mom got called first and was sworn in as a witness (it was very official) and I could tell that she was nervous. I got called next and made sure that I answered the questions without rambling and I was done quickly. Good thing I took that dreaded public speaking class last semester so I was prepared to speak in front of people. The guy who had been driving the truck basically sealed his own fate when he said that he was following only one car length behind us. The judge found him guilty of following too close and he has to pay a fine. It was definitely an interesting experience but probably not something that I would want to do again. I didn't take any pictures because I had my phone out at one point and the guy sitting next to us told us that the judge had taken someone's phone away earlier so I decided to just keep my phone in my purse.

I survived

I am finally back to blogging for a little while now that school is out. I survive the semester and although it was stressful at times it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I finished my dental assisting class at the ATC back in September and I'm now just waiting to start my externship. I hope that I start soon so I don't forget everything that I learned. School at Weber was great. My worst class was public speaking because I hate speaking in front of people but thanks to my mom who listened to my speeches over and over while I practice I ended up with an acceptable grade. All of my other classes were alright except some of them were really boring but I didn't care as long as I got a good grade. Next semester I'm taking math and I'm a little nervous because I haven't done the school type of math for about 5 years. Hopefully I will have some time to blog a couple more times before school starts again.

Christmas Eve Shirts

We did another project that I found on Pinterest. You use the kids foot and hands to make a reindeer they turned out super cute. Zoey's has a bit of character because she did not want to open her hand. I don't know if anyone has ever tried to get a 2 month old to lay their hand down flat but it's not easy. My mom, Robyn and me were all trying to pry her hand open and we still couldn't keep it open. Don't mind that the kids don't have clothes on we were using paint and didn't want to get it on their clothes. Addisyn was so patient when we made her wait to finish her shirt while we finished the younger kids shirts. I don't have a picture of the final product yet because we were waiting for them to dry but I will definitely post a picture when I see the girls in their shirts on Christmas Eve.
We decided to have them sit on the counter so that we didn't have to work on the floor.
It definitely got a little crazy when we got the paint on Zoey's hand she was very upset which upset Oakley who thought that we were hurting her sister and they both ended up crying.
Oakley was very insistent that I sit on the counter with her.I was so glad that my mom was about to come help because it took all three of us to get this project done without making a giant mess.

On a side note I have to say that Oakley is really cute and always makes me feel so good about myself when I see her. She can be quite the handful sometimes because she is very busy but I sure do love her. The other day I was watching Zoey while Robyn and my mom took the girls on a field trip for preschool to see Santa and Oakley wanted to go with me so bad that she climbed into the back seat of my car.

Family Pictures

It was decided that we would take individual family pictures for my grandma's birthday since she needed updated pictures. This is one of the few good pictures that we got. I learned that I don't know how to hold my head up straight in picture. I guess I will have to work on keeping my head straight before we get family pictures taken since Robyn and Brittany are ruining the family.
This is Adam trying to make me smile for the picture like I'm a little kid.
This is me trying to act scared. What can I say I'm not a very good actress. Adam was less than impressed with my performance.

My Creation

I am totally addicted to pinterest. I think that it's pretty much the best thing ever invented. I saw an idea on there to make a cheeseball into a snowman so when I needed to bring something to our family Christmas party I knew what I needed to bring. Robyn will try to tell you that she made it but we all know that's not true. It turned out super cute and I look forward to making many more things that I find from pinterest.
