House warming gift

On Black Friday there was a drill on sale at Kmart and my Mom got one and told me that it was for Andy. When we were at the store I mentioned to my mom that I would like one of them for Christmas because we had to borrow my Dad's drill to put stuff up at our new house and she totally ignored me. Then the next day when I was at my parents my Dad asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told him "I wanted one of the drills that was on sale at Kmart yesterday and I told Mom and she totally ignored me." Then when we were leaving the pizzeria they told us they had something for us and when we opened the house warming present that they had it was the drill. They had been lying when they said that it was for Andy it had been for us the whole time we had a good laugh about it when I fill Adam in on the story of telling my parents that I wanted a drill.

Black Friday

I am definitely not a morning person but I love to shop so on Black Friday shopping always wins over sleeping. This year I had to work but not until 11:30 so I was still able to go shopping. I really only needed to get one thing at the first store I went to but I went to at least five stores after that with my family. We lucked out and everyone found everything that they wanted. When we were done shopping we went to get pretzels at Pretzel Maker; I think that this is the only reason that my mom goes shopping because she hates shopping. By the time I finally had to go to work I had already been shopping for 7 hours and to make things worse since everyone was still out shopping no one was calling into my work I thought that I was going to fall asleep at my desk but luckily I made it through the day and had Saturday and Sunday off to catch up on my sleep. As I am writing about going to get pretzels after shopping I am thinking back to my other posts and I am realizing that almost every tradition my family has involves food.

Christmas Parade

We always go to the Christmas parade in Ogden the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We took Oakley to the parade with us since her parents had gone to get Christmas trees, and she loved all the lights on the floats but when there was a lull in the parade and nothing was in front of us for her to look at she would start to cry. This year my cousin Whitney was in the parade and when we yelled her name she acted like she didn't know us. I told her Dad that he should make her pay for her own dinner since she shunned us. After the parade we went to the Ogden Pizzeria it

Moving

We finally moved into our house after waiting for what seems like forever. It is so nice to be able to spread out all of our stuff. We have been staying with my parents for about a month and I am so grateful for them allowing us to stay with them but it is so nice to have our own space again. Adam asked his friends to help us move and they were very efficient and had us moved in no time. I hardly helped out all because I felt more in the way than anything. Once I get unpacked I will post pictures of the finished product but for now here are some pictures of us moving. Ok so none of the pictures actually show us moving they are all of us eating after we finished moving.

Christmas trees

Last year we went with Cody's family to cut down Christmas trees. This year my family decided to continue that tradition but we decided to go the Saturday before Thanksgiving instead of the Saturday after Thanksgiving so that we can go to the Christmas parade the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We drive up past Evanston to the Wasatch National Forest and we buy passes and then go hike out into the forest to find the perfect Christmas tree to chop down. Unfortunately both years that we have gone Adam has had to work so I was on my own. Last year was pretty scary because the road was really icy and cars were sliding everywhere this year its wasn't really too icy except for when we got into the parking lot where we buy our passes. Right after we drove into the parking lot my car started to slide on the ice I thought that I was going to run into some rocks but luckily we stopped soon enough to miss them.We always take family pictures when we get up into the trees and since Adam had to work these two had to fill in as my family. This is me carrying my tree after we chopped it down.Whitney missed the memo that the green coat people were getting their picture taken. We had to stop for some Wendy's after all our hard work of cutting down the trees.

Thanksgiving

I would have to say that Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because it kicks off the Christmas season and I love Christmas. This year for Thanksgiving we went to my aunt and uncles and as always there was plenty of food. It is a Thanksgiving tradition that after dinner we all sit around and look at the ads for the black Friday sales and make our Christmas lists. Oh and let me just add that if anyone knows Santa Austin wants Miley Cyrus for Christmas so could you please put in a good word for him. When they were trying to do chew and show for the picture Whitney's food fell out of her mouth it was so funny.

Pie Night

For 30 years my Mom's side of the family has had the tradition of pie night. The night before Thanksgiving we all get together and eat pie because everyone knows you don't have enough room to eat pie on Thanksgiving after you eat dinner. Before my grandma passed away she used to make all the pies for pie night which was about 30 pies, but now everyone just brings a pie or some kind of dessert with them. I was a little disappointed this year because there was no banana cream pie which is my favorite. At pie night we always play dodgeball in the backyard no matter how cold it is. I would have to say that this year was a success because no one got hit in the face with the ball.
This is the wall of shame. This is where the losers sit when they get out in dodgeball.
